Glen Parish is a professional guitar teacher in Essex, offering guitar tuition in all styles of music.

Anyone is able to learn the guitar, I teach a wide range of students from 6 to 82 of mixed abilities, here are some video clips of my pupils together with some testimonials

I’d been toying with the idea of learning to play the guitar for a while, and decided I needed a teacher to get the most out of it. I found Glen online and was immediately impressed with the videos demonstrating a range from classical to metal, from rock to pop. I’ve been taking lessons with Glen for several months now and I’m loving every minute of it. The style is relaxed but ensures the groundwork for more advanced techniques is well understood before progressing. I recommend Glen to anyone wanting to learn the guitar, in my opinion you won’t do better!

Just like to say how enjoyable the Accoustic guitar lessons are. A great mixture of some nice challenges that you prepare taking the guitar playing into some new areas and techniques and also working on new songs from scratch. Particularly interesting is working on an existing tune and just adding in those missing extra special chords or tricks that really bring it to life. Have also very much enjoyed watching you play live at Jazz and Classic Blues rock sessions, you certainly take guitar playing to a different level.......more of the same please !

Great teacher, very patient and supportive. I started with Glen as a complete beginner and his informal approach and "learn at your own pace" really helped me gain confidence. Highly recommended.

Glen is a patient teacher, a true guitar enthusiast and an amazing musician. Starting from scratch at age 65, I have enjoyed every lesson with Glen and learned so much about music and playing the guitar in every genre you can think of - classical, rock, jazz - Glen can take me through them all at a level I can actually play and enjoy.

My 11 year old son has been learning to play electric guitar with Glen weekly for 8 months. He has learnt how to play several tunes, some from a book and others he has asked to learn and some Glen has suggested. The lessons are relaxed, but he learns something new each week and my son never moans about going or practicing.

I have been under Glens tutelage for five years. His experience, and ability to interpret each individuals needs and convey the most efficient route, to progress is faultless.Which he manages to do in a relaxed, yet productive manner.

Being a late starter, I would have never managed to explore the complexities and nuances, that make the guitar such a joy without Glens input and guidance.

I teach students of all ages and abilities.
Advanced student who I taught from a Beginner rocking out to Jimi Hendrix
Advanced student I taught from a beginner playing Blackbird by the Beatles
Here are some of the bands below, I taught members in both of these bands, who started to learn the guitar with me as beginners and are now carving out a career for themselves in the music industry.

Glen can teach all styles of guitar starting from beginners learning basic chords, finger exercises, songs, reading music and guitar tab. This will usually take around 6 to 12 months depending on how much you practice.

The next level of learning is about more advanced techniques and finding out what styles and direction of music you would like to study. For example if you are into rock music I will focus on the specific techniques needed in that style of music ensuring you get the most out of your lessons and most importantly learning what you want to play.

Learning any instrument takes time and patience and it will not happen over night. The secret is to enjoy playing what you are learning at the time and letting your music progress naturally setting only a couple of goals until you are ready to move on to another level.

Guitar Workshops are also available to students who have been playing for a while. This is where the student will interact with other musicians in a group environment putting their guitar skills into practice. This is a great way of meeting other guitarists and gaining confidence on the guitar and preparing for playing in a band or getting ready for auditions. Some people in the workshops also form bands and start playing gigs and writing their own music.

I have students all across Essex who come to me for guitar tuition, from Brentwood, Hutton, Stock, Sheffield, Billericay, Leigh on Sea, Southend, Canvey Island, Hockley, Benfleet, Rayleigh, Witham, Maldon, Hullbridge, Basildon, Laindon, Langdon Hills, Upminster, Gidea Park, Hornchurch, Romford, Chelmsford, Galleywood, Great Baddow and as far as Kent and Surrey.
